Héctor Herrera, was born in Mexico city (1975). He studied a degree in Visual Arts at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, in the PAEA program of The Antique Academy of San Carlos; He was awarded with a scholarship by the Polytechnic University of Valencia to finish his professional studies. He obtained the Youth scholarship towards research for the UNAM (1995-1998).

He received the first place, in the I Latin American Art Festival, San Diego CA (2015), National Prize of Young Art, granted by the INBA, in 2002. He obtained honorable mentions in the First National Biennial of Yucatán (2002 ), At the Fourth National Fine Arts Competition, Libertad Gallery (2002), at the First Rafael Cauduro Painting Biennial, Tijuana (2006), Annual MexAm / VSC Artist Fellowship Award. Vermont, USA. (2003, 2006).

He has also made artistic residencies in Bahía-Brasil (2010), Reunion Island in the Biennial of ADCNI, France (2009), Santiago de Chile (2001, 2007), Paradores Nacionales, Madrid (1998).

He has been selected in the IV El Paso Biennal, (2016), XV Biennial of the Northwest, (2016), National Biennial of Yucatán (2009, 2004, 2002), X Biennial of Drawing Diego Rivera, Guanajuato, Mexico (2002), in The first biennale Rafael Cauduro, Tijuana (2006), VII International Biennial of Painting Araguaney Foundation, Santiago de Compostela, Spain (2005), II International Biennial of Drawing, Joseph Amat, Catalunya, Spain (2003).

He has exhibited his work individually in Mexico, as well as in the United States, Chile, Spain, Brazil and France.

At the moment he is located in Ensenada Baja California, where he coordinates the Center of Residences and Artistic Exchanges (CRIA).
